- This role is directly managing the Arden Urban Renewal strategic planning work and state and local government relationships

This role is a principal land use policy and strategy lead in the Strategic Land Policy Development Team. The role exists to support the Team to deliver strategic land use planning projects and programs. The role drives integrated planning within that builds the resilience of their region ensuring Melbourne remains a city with resilient and balanced future land use, amenity and development outcomes by leading policy, plans, frameworks across external and internal strategic land and development policy.
The role exists to support, understand and maximise strategic land use planning opportunities to deliver on its organisational vision, objectives and strategies.
Key Individual Accountabilities -
- Lead project management and project teams to deliver land use policy and strategic land use planning projects
- Manage budgets in-line with sound project management and procurement practices to deliver projects on time and within budget
- Manage and engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the development of sound policy and to achieve buy-in and support, and strategic management of external State and local government stakeholders, including representing at key meetings and forums
- Develop and implement strategic land use policy positions and manage their position on planning policy and legislative change
- Liaise across the business to provide strategic land use planning technical expertise and to identify key issues required to be addressed in land use policy, processes and key projects
- Identify key government land use policy reform opportunities (impediments and enabling policy) that would better deliver on broader strategy or goals
- Advise to Board, Leadership Team and Senior Management on strategic positions on key policy reforms with supporting evidence
- Support effective leadership of the Strategic Land Policy Development (SLPD) team, by contributing to the team’s overall performance by demonstrating collaboration with colleagues in resolving issues and allocating resources and effort to priority areas.
- Role model constructive collaborative behaviours for self and the team to ensure SLPD delivers high quality outcomes and performance commensurate with the expectations of the Leadership Team
- Support, create and champion opportunities to encourage diversity of thinking, ideas and approaches
- Build networks and partnerships across the business and with external customers and stakeholders
- Take intelligent risks in order to pursue innovative ideas
- Facilitate a performance and delivery culture and a ‘can do’ attitude in others
