Key Responsibilities
-Contribute to an integrated approach to all sections within the Planning Department.
-Provide advice to senior leadership on statutory planning issues when requested.
-Prepare draft Committee and Council reports, and reports on matters delegated to senior officers, together with appropriate recommendations for consideration by the Team Leader and/or Manager.
-Investigate, inspect, report and process planning applications, including those involving significant or complex issues including relevant knowledge of PSP’s.
-Prepare appeal and panel submissions and represent Council at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and before panel hearings.
-Deal with enquiries and discuss or explain planning matters with professional and non- professional individuals and groups.
-Assist in the preparation, monitoring and review of Council policies.
-Prepare correspondence relating to reports and enquiries.
-Represent Council at functions, meetings, seminars etc. both during and outside normal working hours, as necessary to effectively carry out the position and convey a positive public image of Council.
-Keep up to date with relevant developments, legislation and regulations.
-Support and assist staff in the Department, to achieve individual and corporate objectives.
-Through leadership and example promote the Council's values of Dream Big, Empower Each Other, and Make our Community Proud.
As the ideal candidate you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Planning and/or Building Law, or relevant experience/qualifications
- Have reasonable experience as a Statutory Planner
- Excellent customer service and presentation skills
