Job Summary:
The role will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the engineering function of the company, managing staff, developing and implementing strategic plans, and ensuring the business meets its financial and performance targets. The successful candidate will have a proven leadership, business management, and civil engineering design track record.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership and management of the Design office
- Develop and implement the company's strategic plans and business objectives
- Manage and mentor staff, ensuring they are motivated, productive, and achieving their goals
- Oversee project delivery, ensuring high-quality work, timely completion, and compliance with regulations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders
- Ensure the company operates within budget and meets financial targets
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Ensure the company's operations are compliant with relevant legislation and regulations
- Manage risk and ensure the company has appropriate risk management policies and procedures in place
- Represent the company in public forums and industry events
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering design and management - in land subdivisions
- Proven experience in business management, with a track record of achieving business objectives and financial targets
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with a track record of building high-performance teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in complex situations
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, and experience in managing risk
- Demonstrated ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities
